The Go-Giver

A while back, this very generous guy sent me The Go-Giver to check out.  It was a great read with some excellent principles.  I thought I would share a few of those with you!

Laws of Stratospheric Success

1. The Law of Value: Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.

2. The Law of Compensation: Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.

3. The Law of Influence: Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.

4. The Law of Authenticity: The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.

5. The Law of Receptivity: The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

1.  This week has been crazy.  I never like taking Monday off.  My whole week is confusing after that.

2.  I introduced Brayden to the Wii this week.  Now that’s all he wants to do.  It is hilarious to hear him celebrate after he wins a game.

3.  Awakening.  This Sunday.  Be there!

4.  Anniston decided that it was time to cut her hair today.  Oops!

5.  I don’t have a ton of stuff going on this weekend.  I can’t wait to chill a little!

I am constantly reminded of how much I need to change.  I am also realizing that it is much easier for me to change you than to change me.  It’s easy for me to come up with a solution for other people’s issues.  It is much harder for me to have the necessary discipline to change myself.

Does anyone else have this problem?  Maybe we should start a support group…

1.  Pastor Steven Furtick was dead on in this post.

2.  One word : Chills. Check it out!

Thanks Elevation!!

In my Bible reading one day this week, I read the following verses:

Joshua 21:45 Not one of all of the Lord’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

Psalm 89:1 With my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.

Psalm 89:2 You established faithfulness known through all generations.

Psalm 89:8 O Lord God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty and Your faithfulness surrounds you.

Prov. 13:15 Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.

To be honest, it makes me a little nervous when God is reminding me so much about His faithfulness.  However, He may be reminding just how incredible He is!!

Rick shows up with his leaf blower every Sunday morning to clean the sidewalks. Why? So that people far from God can experience life in Christ!

Corey scrapes the black marks off the floor at the school. Why? So that people far from God can experience life in Christ!

Kurt puts out directional signs, no matter what the weather is like. Why? So that people far from God can experience life in Christ!

Kelsianne spends the night at my house every Saturday night and brings my kids to church since Joni and I get there at 6am.  Why?  So that people far from God can experience life in Christ!

Our set-up team arrives at 6am.  Why?  So that people far from God can experience life in Christ!

Our tear down team stays until 1:30pm.  Why?  So that people far from God can experience life in Christ!

Other partners (more than I could ever name) park cars, greet people, seat people, run sound, serve in Freedom Kidz, etc.  Why?  So that people far from God can experience life in Christ!

Plain and simple….everything that we do is so that people far from God can experience  life in Christ!!

David led them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. (Psalms 78:72)

This verse has always intrigued me.  I think it illustrates perfectly that you need more than skill to lead people effectively.  You also need more than integrity.  I would argue that you need both to lead people in a way that is pleasing to God and brings Him the most glory.

You need more than skill.  I have seen people with an incredible amount of skill  but zero leadership.  Why?  Because no matter how talented you are, people aren’t going to follow anyone who doesn’t have integrity.  People are far too busy to waste their time following someone who is sloppy, doesn’t speak the truth, or continually abuses their power.

On the flip side, I have seen people with incredible integrity and no skills.  They love God and love people but they have no idea how to lead them.  It is evident that they spend time with God, but they cannot sing at all.  This is very important and if I had to choose one of the two, I would choose integrity.

However, I think both are necessary to be the leader that God has designed you to be.  I am praying that God would give me both.  I’m a little greedy like that!

This past Sunday, we had 10+ people accept Christ. This never gets old to me. Almost everytime that I see hands go up (yeah, I peek), I have to fight back the tears.

It never gets old to me to see people accept Christ. I pray that I always get excited and never take that for granted.

There is one thing that I realize, God is doing something special here. Lives are being transformed on a weekly basis. I’m just glad to be along for the ride!!

Good Friday

Jesus paid it all.
All to Him I owe.
My sin had left a crimson spot.
He washed me white as snow!
