J.R. posted some notes from our trip. You can check them out here.
One of the cool things is that we were able to be here as Johnny Hunt was elected the new President of the Southern Baptist Convention. I’m sure that today there will be certain bloggers that will post something negative about him today. The problem with that is they have, more than likely, never had a conversation with him. They have no idea what his heart, vision, and passion is.
I have been fortunate enough spend a little time around him and observe him. There are not many men on this planet that love God and love others (especially pastors) like he does. He is a great communicator and a great leader (usually Pastors are one or the other).
He is also the most generous human being that I have ever known. Want some proof? He heard my car blew up on the trip and told me that he was going to pay for it to be repaired. He took the time to tell me this in the middle of a party to celebrate his election as President of the SBC. This is just a small example of how generous he is. I have learned a TON in this area from him.
Pastor Johnny – You’ll probably never read this, but I am extremely grateful for your love for God and the next generation of leaders. I really believe that God is going to use you tremendously in the next 2 years as the SBC President.
