Father’s Day

(Dad, I know you’ll probably never read this since you are on a cruise, but I thought I would write it anyway.)

Father’s Day always causes me to remember back to Christmas break of my 3rd grade year.  That was the year that my mom met the man that she has been married to for almost 25 years.  It as a difficult adjustment for me because I had seen my mom go through some bad relationships and I had no desire to see her hurt again.  I was very protective of her and, as a result, didn’t want to give anyone much of a chance.

Looking back, I am so grateful for the way that my dad has loved my mom and our family.  He entered our lives in a very pivotal time and through lots of circumstances, God has used him to help develop us all into the people that we are today.  It wasn’t easy, but certainly worth it!

I have witnessed how difficult it can be to ‘blend’ a family.  I can honestly say that he has done a great job and always treated us fairly.

Dad – I love you and am grateful for the leadership you have provided for our family.  Thanks for showing me what it means to work hard, love your family, and love God.  I respect you more than I could ever convey with words.  Enjoy your trip!
